Academic Innovation Conference 2024

To deliver a comprehensive and proactive school counseling program, counselors must find a way to teach students the skills they need to be successful. However, counselors find themselves struggling to deliver proactive and preventative lessons, especially in state-tested areas, as well as in content areas where teachers are protective of their academic instruction time. This activity will model how to identify opportunities for collaboration between teachers and counselors. The facilitator will model how to examine academic objectives for tie-ins to the new Student Success Standard for which school counselors are responsible for delivering. Participants will have the opportunity to create lessons that teach both the academic content and the Student Success Standards.
